Master Benson Lee

Master Benson Lee began his Kung Fu and Tai Chi training in 1976 while living in New York City.  Sifu Lee is a senior top disciple of Grandmaster Leung Shum, the leading authority in the United States on Ying Jow Pai – the Eagle Claw System of Kung Fu.  During the early 1980’s, Sifu Lee was a top rated forms & weapons competitor on the east coast, and was a runner up 1982 Kung Fu Competitor of the Year named by Inside Kung-Fu magazine.  With over 30 years experience, Sifu Lee has conducted seminars on Eagle Claw in various cities and has written several articles on Eagle Claw for publication.  Sifu Lee performed in Hong Kong and China as a member of the 1st Invitational American East Coast Martial Arts Tour in 1984, sponsored by the China All-Sport Federation.  Today, Sifu Lee is often invited to judge at regional and national martial arts tournaments.  He previously taught kung fu and tai chi in Sacramento, CA for 10 years prior to moving to the Glendale area.  Sifu Lee’s realm of knowledge goes well beyond his own style Eagle Claw, and his sensitivity and patience towards students has made him a popular instructor.  The YJP Kung Fu & Tai Chi School of Montrose is owned and managed by Master Benson Lee and his wife, Simo Suzanne Lee.  They are assisted by Instructor, Sihing Tav Byerhoff with 10 years experience.

 

Grandmaster Leung Shum is the first person to open an Eagle Claw Kung Fu School in the United States back in 1974 in New York City.  He began his Kung Fu training at the early age of 8 years from his godfather, Grandmaster Ng Wai Nung from Hong Kong & China.  Grandmaster Ng Wai Nung was a top senior disciple of Grandmaster Lau Fat Mon and Grandmaster Chan Tzi Ching from Northern China.  Presently, Grandmaster Shum is considered by many in the martial arts community as the leading authority on Eagle Claw Kung Fu in the world.  He has taught thousands of students in his long career of teaching and promoting Eagle Claw Kung Fu and Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan.  And, has shared his knowledge through instructional DVDs, articles, and published books.   Today, Grandmaster Leung Shum is semi-retired and travels whenever he can to visit his association schools and conduct seminars.

 

Lineage: Grandmaster Leung Shum’s Eagle Claw lineage is from Grandmaster Ng Wai Nung in Hong Kong from Grandmaster Lau Fat Mon and Grandmaster Chan Tzi Ching from China.  Our Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan lineage is from Grandmaster Ng Wai Nung from Grandmaster Cheng Wing Kwong from Grandmaster Wu Chien Chuan from China.
