    Montrose Martial Arts Center is a traditional, yet practical martial arts school, teaching highly effective methods for self-defense, increased awareness, and internal/external strength training, along with common sense values (discipline, humility, mutual respect) and a "way of life" that never gives up and never quits.

    At Montrose Martial Arts we will help you achieve fitness, balance, agility, greater awareness while learning self-defense skills, improve focus, and develop internal power. Adults and children alike find learning here easy since our classes are taught in a step-by-step, individualized, format. Lesson reviews are given as often as needed. Teens learn discipline, achieve better focus, gain confidence, and take on challenges vs. avoiding them... Teens with confidence resist peer pressure better and make smarter choices for themselves.     Eagle Claw Kung Fu is a traditional style of Chinese martial arts known for its unique fighting techniques, quick fluid movements, including 108 joint locks, sweeps and takedowns, and pressure point strikes.   Eagle Claw is the complete kung fu system representative of the Chinese grappling art known as Chin Na. Eagle Claw is the only style of kung fu that fully encompasses locking techniques and pressure point attacks in combination with blocking, hand strikes and leg kicks. The training is comprehensive and balanced, and you will experience overall fitness benefits and learn valuable self-defense skills. Martial arts training improves your mental focus, coordination, balance, and overall awareness which is beneficial to your daily life.

    San Shou means “free fighting”. It is simply applying traditional kung fu techniques to real life use. It is a mixture traditional kung fu techniques geared towards full contact fighting. It incorporates aspects of kung fu that many people may not be aware of, such as Shuai Jiao (Chinese wrestling) and Chin Na (joint locks and grappling). Sanshou is taught to the Chinese military and police due to it’s effectiveness and practicality in real life situations. Military soldiers had used Sanshou in its early days as a testing ground for their fighting skills. Sanshou gave an opportunity to practice kung fu solely for it’s combative purposes. Through refinement, rules, and more refinement, it has grown to become a very popular sport and martial arts system. The emphasis of the program is for self defense, however students can utilize what is learned in class for competition as well.

    Tai Chi is sometimes described as "meditation in motion."  It is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise. To do Tai Chi, you perform a defined series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each movement or posture flows into the next without pausing. The ultimate goal of Tai Chi is to relieve stress, improve health, gain balance and focus, and develop internal power. You will learn deep breathing to improve your circulation and overall health and wellness. Easy to learn step by step instruction is provided. Regular review and practice of the Tai Chi exercises are done in order to refine one's ability and to obtain a deeper connection with your internal "chi energy".

    Specnaz Karate is a fusion of Specnaz (a.k.a. Spetsnaz) Special Operation Forces and Kyokushin Karate (see page link above).

    Kaido Goju Karate is a fusion of Goju-ryu Karate and Kyokushin Karate (see page link above).
